The story behind the artist
Dalaun
Dalaun is an R&B/Soul artist born and raised in Oakland, California. Introduced to music by her father and grandmother, love of music transferred over to her early on. From starting piano lessons at the age of 5 to singing in her church’s youth choir, Dalaun made it her mission to learn and understand music. She attended performing arts schools from middle school until she graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business/Management in 2017. During her attendance, Dalaun has participated in a multitude of musical endeavors, including appearances on NBC’s The Sing-Off, America’s Got Talent, Daddy’s Home 2 and most recently, the Oscar-winning film, CODA. Alongside her work in movies and television, she has worked as a session singer and background vocalist for other musicians both local and well-established.
Although these opportunities have been wonderful and one-of-a-kind, Dalaun is excited to be creating music of her own and embracing her individual sound. Only beginning to write her own music in 2018, Dalaun has evolved from an artist that just wanted to see if she could, to someone who believes she has something special to offer this world through her lyrics and vocal tone. Her first album, Declaration, was released in November of 2019 and used to announce herself as an artist. Her next album is set to release later this year and is a testament to her growth not only as an artist, but as a woman in today’s society. Declaration is available now along with her sophomore album, MiNdGaMeS.
